Alicia Ashmore
When Jerry Ashmore of Evans, Georgia decided to enroll the employees of his concrete company in an HMO plan, he had no idea how important his decision would be.
At the time, it was purely a business move. His company was growing, and he had reached out to his Prudential agent, Tommy Norris, CLU, ChFC, to help him with a benefits package that would help attract new employees.
Only a few months later, Jerry's nine-year-old daughter, Alicia, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Through his HMO, with HealthSource, and then with Aetna US Healthcare, a specialized team of surgeons was assembled to work with Alicia, and Tommy Norris worked hard to help the Ashmores through their ordeal.
"Tommy was always personally concerned with our family and our daughter," says Jerry's wife, Christia. "We weren't just policyholders. He cut through the confusion, so we didn't have to deal with the paperwork."
Alicia is 12 now, and doing well. For Jerry and Christia Ashmore, their health coverage gave them something you can't put a price on: the peace of mind that comes from knowing their daughter would receive the care she needed, regardless of cost.
